Peace bell in Mösern
Popular sightseeing
The peace bell in Mösern rings daily at 17:00. And this is as much a part of the culture and history of our Olympic region Seefeld as the mountains, the handicraft traditions and the hearty food. This is exactly why the Friedensglocke is a popular destination for excursions, which you can reach via hiking and theme trails through the unspoilt nature.
Peace bell in Mösern – also called the peace bell of the Alpine region
You will find the peace bell on the westernmost hill of Mösern near Telfs. There the 10 ton bell is a symbol for good neighbourliness. Incidentally, with its 500 kilogram clapper, a height of 2.51 metres and a diameter of 2.54 metres, it is the largest free-swinging bell in the Alpine region.
From the Seewaldalm to the peace bell
The hike along the Friedensglocken hiking trail is highly recommended. There are seven stops along the way to the Friedensglocke in Mösern. You will learn a lot on the way, because the boards contain wisdom and quotations that will make you think. In this way we would also like to give you an understanding of the culture and history of our Olympic region Seefeld. The ascent begins at the car park at the Seewald-Alm and takes you along the Albrecht-Dürer-Weg at the Möserer See and the Möserer Church up to the Friedensglocke. All in all, you will be on your way for about 90 minutes.
The largest bell in Tyrol rings punctually
If you would like to hear the peace bell in Mösern directly on site, start at about 15:30, because the bell rings every day at exactly 17:00. For about 4 minutes you will then enjoy the second lowest pitched instrument ever cast by the Grassmayr foundry in Innsbruck. With a magnificent view of the Inn valley, the bell proclaims its message of peace across national borders. It is intended to bring the many different cultures we have in Europe closer together. If the wind is favourable, the sound can allegedly even be heard as far as the Alpine countries of Tyrol, South Tyrol and Bavaria. You will certainly hear it in the Upper Inn Valley.
The bell bears the coat of arms of Arge Alp
Founded in 1972, Arge Alp promotes social, economic and ecological cooperation between the member states Bavaria, Tyrol and South Tyrol. For this reason, the coats of arms of the federal states are engraved on the bell. As an additional message it bears the inscription: “I ring for the good neighbourhood and peace of all Alpine countries”.
With the peace bell to inner peace
Many of our guests return enthusiastically from their excursion to the peace bell. They praise the beautiful experience, the place and the great photo motif. For many, however, this path is a good opportunity to reflect on the inner and outer peace in life. And this is what a holiday in our beautiful Olympia region Seefeld should finally offer: The opportunity to come to rest and experience a joyful and peaceful time. After all, you want to take this peace home with you and keep it as long as possible.
